LENGTHEN command for beginners
The LENGTHEN command is used to change the length of objects and angles of arcs.
How to access the lengthen command
- When using 2D Drafting workspace,
Home tab > Modify panel > Lengthen, as shown in the following picture,

2. When using GstarCAD Classic workspace,
Modify > Lengthen, as shown in the following picture,

3. Command Entry: LENGTHEN
Enter “LENGHEN”, as shown in the following picture,

A step-by-step tutorial
Delta parameter
After executing the Lengthen command, we are prompted to
Select an object or [DElta/Percent/Total/DYnamic]:
- Lengthen a line
We can lengthen a line, arc, polyline, elliptical arc using the DElta parameter.
Please note: when prompted to enter delta length, we could enter a negative value to shorten the length.

2. Lengthen an arc
Another thing we can do with DElta parameter is to change angles of arcs.
Please note: when prompted to enter angle increment, we could enter a negative value to shorten the arc.

Total parameter
- Specify the total length
We can stretch object from the endpoint that is nearest from the selected point to specified total lengthen
Specify the total angle
Percentage parameter
