Build Data Interrelation between Excel and Drawing Objects

-In this tutorial, let’s see how to create and interrelate an Excel table from drawing objects.

-Did you know that you can perform area/length and block quantity calculation with Autoxlstable?

-From Express tab > Autoxlstable panel, select the Selection Management command.

-Under User Define Selection, the Area option is selected by default.

-You can assign a proper name for Area calculation.

-Then click New Group button and select the object within the drawing.

-You can quickly repeat the process to define more areas or even a length as object to be calculated.

-Now it’s time to create the table.

-From Express tab > Autoxlstable panel, select the Create Table command.

-The Microsoft Excel will be open automatically.

-If you already created an Excel table, just copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) it to the new excel spreadsheet.

-You might have to position the mouse under the Qty. cell

-Go to Add-ins tab on the ribbon and press the Insert Function button.

-Under Block Calculate, you can find the correspondent block name from the list.

-From the layer drop-down list, select *ALL option and press Ok button.

-You’ll see the current block quantity regarding to the drawing.

-You can quickly repeat the same Insert Function process for each block on the table.

-Now let’s position the cursor under the Area cell.

-Go to Add-ins tab on the ribbon and press the Insert Function button.

-Under Area Calculate, you can find the correspondent Area name from the list.

-From the layer drop-down list, select *ALL option and press Ok button.

-You can repeat the same Insert Function process for area and length calculation.

-To finish the table, go to Add-ins tab on the ribbon and press the Finish button.

-You can save the current spreadsheet with a proper name.

-Back in the software, specify an insertion point within drawing area.

-Now if you add or delete some blocks and alter the geometry of a defined area or length from the drawing, the table will be updated automatically.

-Statistics like quantity of blocks, length or area of certain kind of entity in the table is possible to be interrelated to current drawing.
